Discount Calculator
Calculate final sale price, stacked discounts, coupon savings, and effective percentage off.
Sequential discounts are multiplicative: the second discount applies to the already discounted price, not the original price.
Coupon deductions cannot lower the final price below $0.00.
How Discount Calculations Work
Discounts reduce the original price of an item. While single discounts apply directly to the original amount, stacked or sequential discounts apply sequentially—meaning the second discount is calculated from the price already reduced by the first discount, rather than simply adding the percentages together.
Mathematical Formula
Final Price = Original Price × (1 − Discount₁ / 100) × (1 − Discount₂ / 100) − CouponExample 1: Single 25% Off Sale
Scenario: A jacket originally priced at $80.00 is marked 25% off.
Math: $80.00 × 0.25 = $20.00 savings; $80.00 − $20.00 = $60.00
Result: Final price: $60.00 (Savings: $20.00)
Example 2: Stacked 20% + Extra 10% Off
Scenario: A $100.00 pair of shoes is on sale for 20% off, plus an extra 10% off coupon code at checkout.
Math: Stage 1: $100.00 − (20% of $100) = $80.00. Stage 2: $80.00 − (10% of $80.00) = $72.00. Total savings: $28.00.
Result: Final price: $72.00 (Effective discount: 28%, NOT 30%)
