Financial Statement Analyzer

Financial statement analysis compares reported results and checks accounting identities without guessing missing figures. Start with a few figures and add detail when available.

Your figures, your assumptions

Starting figures are illustrative examples. Leave unknown values blank; enter N/A when not applicable. Zero is a real value. Entries stay in your browser.

Official references identify verifiable documents and methods. Your figures remain examples or manual entries; inspect references and edit supported assumptions. Official websites may restrict access by network or location, and access alone does not verify a number. US accessibility has not been verified.

Find official filings in SEC EDGAR

Use consistent cash definitions, scope and accounting policies when comparing. A SEC link does not make your entries verified data.

How it works

Assets = liabilities + equity and income/cash reconciliations are checked only when all components are supplied. Common-size analysis divides income items by revenue and balance-sheet items by total assets. Growth requires a positive prior base and comparable reporting periods.

Formulas and conventions

  • Assets βˆ’ liabilities βˆ’ equity = balance-sheet residual.
  • Gross profit = revenue βˆ’ cost of sales; operating income = gross profit βˆ’ operating expenses.
  • Net income = operating income + other income/expense βˆ’ interest βˆ’ taxes.
  • Ending βˆ’ beginning cash = operations + investing + financing + foreign exchange + other adjustments.
  • Growth = (current βˆ’ prior) / prior Γ— 100; zero or negative prior values do not produce a normal growth percentage.

Worked example

Illustrative example: assets1000 = liabilities600 + equity400, residual0. Equity390 would produce a residual10. Opening cash100 + operations160 βˆ’ investing60 βˆ’ financing20 + adjustments0 = closing cash180. Revenue800β†’1000 and profit80β†’100 grow25%.

Assumptions and limitations

  • Figures are manual entries or illustrative examples; no company data is loaded.
  • Use compatible currency, scale, accounting definitions and reporting periods. No foreign exchange conversion.
  • Public formulas run in browser memory; financial entries are not transmitted or stored.
  • This is not an audit, investment recommendation, or guaranteed outcome.
  • Missing values are not inferred and manual figures are not verified by the SEC.
  • No automatic filing ingestion, OCR, or account connections.

Reconciliation tolerance is half a reporting unit and the residual is always shown. Quarterly periods require 70–105 days; annual periods 350–380 days. Figures are not annualized and currencies are not converted. Enter foreign exchange and other cash adjustments explicitly, including zero.

Frequently asked questions

Must I complete every statement?

No. Quick input supports selected figures. Incomplete checks are distinguished from inconsistent statements, without automatic filling.

What balance tolerance is used?

Half a reporting unit:0.50 for units,500 for thousands and500000 for millions. The exact residual is shown beside the tolerance.

Why might cash not reconcile?

Foreign exchange, restricted cash or other adjustments may apply. Keep the cash definition consistent and enter explicit zeros where appropriate.

Are SEC figures downloaded?

No. You can consult EDGAR and manually enter figures and an official filing link. The link does not verify your data or trigger a download.
